Sean Aiken – Project Founder

Sean Aiken is the creator of The One Week Job Project – an inspiring journey across North America in which he worked 52 jobs in 52 weeks to find his passion. He trekked more than 75,000 km, slept on 55 couches, raised over $20,000 for charity, and tried every job he could: Bungee Instructor, Dairy Farmer, Advertising Executive, Baker, NHL Mascot, Stock Trader, Firefighter, and more.
Sean’s been featured in The New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Time, Globe & Mail, on CNN, 20/20, The Rachael Ray Show, Good Morning America, CBC, MTV, and countless other media outlets around the world. His book, The One Week Job Project, is published by Random House USA and Penguin Books Canada, while the feature length documentary premiered on Canada’s National television network (CBC).
Sean frequently speaks at schools and companies around the world about what he learned from his experience and is currently developing a program to empower others to discover their passion by taking on a series of “one week jobs”.
Sean graduated from Capilano University with a Business Administration degree, top of his class with a 4.0 GPA, and was voted Class Valedictorian. He loves to go on adventures, meet new people, and bring some fun to whatever it is that he’s doing. Sean speaks English and French, and has backpacked throughout Europe, North America, Central America, the Caribbean, and South East Asia.
He started the One-Week Job project in February 2007, at age twenty-five, and finished his 52 weeks in March 2008.
With One Week Job: North America complete and interest from fans around the world, Sean is now focused on taking the One Week Job Project abroad.
One Week Job: Australia is the first international market. Sean will be traveling to Australia to help launch the project and act as a mentor for Paul throughout the journey.
He currently lives in Vancouver, Canada.
